In the World of Warcraft, Shamans are a famous class of hybrids. For quite a while Shamans as a class were available only to the Horde while Alliance had Paladins in exchange. With the Burning Crusade this fact has changed and with the new introduced race – the Draenei, Shamans became very popular with the Alliance players.
Similar to Druids, Shamans can choose to become Healers, Caster dpsers or Melee dpsers. There are three talent builds they can choose from – Enhancement (melee dps), Elemental (caster dps) and Restoration (healer). If you prefer a dps caster that can own a damage meter, the Elemental talent build would be perfect for your Shaman. In order to be good, you will need to gather gear that has a lot of spell power and crit, haste and hit rating. Click here to watch the video: WoW Shaman
With the talent points in the Enhancement tree, your Shaman will be a great melee damage dealer. The Enhancement build will also require you to have adequate gear that has a lot of Agility, hit, crit and haste. With the points on the right talent, an Enhancement Shaman will get the ability to summon a couple of ghost wolves to assist him with dealing damage or to protect him from the attackers. This ability is especially important for a Enhancement Shaman with a PvP build.
The Restoration talent build belongs to the healers. He has single target heals and also his chain heal is a very useful spell since it will heal a few targets with the lowest hp. Another nice and protective spell, a Resto Shaman can apply to the friendly target or himself, is the Earth shield. The most important thing when it comes to gear for a Shaman healer is mp5 (the amount of mana regenerated per 5 seconds.
A Shaman wears mail armor even though he can also equip pieces of gear made from cloth and leather. While leveling up to some point they will have to wear leather since the ability to wear mail will not be available to them. At the higher levels it is strongly suggested to wear mail since this kind of armor is a lot stronger then leather or cloth. Mail armor made for Shimmies is rich in stats and it has intellect, similar to the armor of a Hunter since Shamans are also mana consumers. For easy leveling a Shaman it is suggested to put your talents in the Enhancement branch. As an Enhancement Shaman you will not need much mana since most of your skills are melee and therefore your leveling will go much faster. With a couple of points in the ghost wolf form you will be able to turn yourself in a ghost wolf and move faster instantly.
Shamans are fun to play and what made them especially popular in any type of game play is their ability to summon totems. Shamans’ totems are divided into four groups – Fire, Air, Water and Earth totems. Shaman’s totems are able to boost the whole group in many ways and the way they are used will depend on the Shaman’s build. However, as he can only use one totem from a certain element, he will be able to have a total of 4 totems active at the same time.
In general, Shamans are a very curious hybrid class and they are fun to level up and play since they can change their build as they please and when needed. Be assured that you won’t get bored while playing this class since there are so many options to choose from.
